Catharine Heddle


Catharine is the founder and president of Lamplighter Communications. She is a seasoned, award-winning communications advisor with experience in the technology, healthcare, education and not-for-profit sectors. Clients rely on her for smart counsel, hard work and a keen eye for the nuances of organizational behaviour.

Catharine has 25 years of experience in public relations and communications consulting. She is a trained facilitator and a skilled change agent, certified in the Prosci method of change management. A former vice-president of one of Canada’s most-respected public relations agencies, her work has been recognized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) and Humber College, as well as countless colleagues and clients.

A committed volunteer, Catharine has served as chair of Frontier College, Canada’s century-old literacy organization; and on the board of Frontier College Foundation. She is a former director of the Birchmount Bluffs Neighbourhood Association and a committed member of 100 Women Who Care. She is an avid reader, an aspiring farmer, an amateur chocolatier and the proud parent of two boys.

Why “Lamplighter”?

Lamplighter was my grandfather’s sailboat, which he built with his own hands. To me, the name symbolizes living life to the fullest, as he did. The name is intended to evoke images of leadership, of lighting the way and igniting the spread of ideas.
